ABSTRACT

The American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) was founded in 1902. It is a voluntary consensus body for the development of standards. There are over 30,000 members and over 12,000 standards methods that operate globally. Developed methods encompass a wide variety of materials, products, systems… Committee D19 is focused on water methods and has 15 subcommittees that concentrate on specific arenas of testing. This presentation will give an introduction to Committee D19 on Water and why consensus bodies are so important to environmental monitoring.
