ABSTRACT

Many Environmental laboratories analyze large numbers of samples using EPA Method 200.7 and 200.8, operating under steady pressure to increase productivity while maintaining data quality. We will present a new automation system for ICP and ICPMS to perform EPA Method 200.7 on an ICP-OES, achieving sample-to-sample run time in under 50 seconds without sacrificing data quality. In addition, the system utilizes a novel valve with optical sensors which confirm vacuum loading of a discreet sample loop combined with a second Ultra High Throughput (UHT) valve which reduces sample consumption and speeds up the analysis.
