ABSTRACT
Key Words: EDD, Electronic Data Deliverable, Laboratory, EDD Loader, Database, Comparison, Validated, Qualified
Laboratories’ rigorous environmental sample-analysis processes yield a legally defensible data package – the hard-copy report. The lab report’s companion document, the electronic data deliverable (EDD), is handed off from the lab to the customer’s or consultant’s email inbox. What happens to the contents of that carefully-formatted and reviewed file? Will the recipient treat it with as much care?
We’ll show you an example, using Project Direct©, how the load of the analytical data in the EDD can be controlled with database schema and valid value requirements, comparisons to the project’s defined sample plans, relative-percent difference and quality-control sample frequency calculations, and validator qualification flags, before it is marked as DV Complete and ready for regulatory reporting. At any key step in the process, the EDD and/or its hard-copy lab report can be rejected and the lab contacted for reissue. If the package is reissued, the process is repeated.
A finalized, fully qualified electronic version of the data package helps us to ensure our analytical results database can safely be used for regulatory reporting and to support project decisions.
