ABSTRACT
In order to: foster a partnership between government, the analytical laboratory community, and the technology innovation community; facilitate the adoption of new, more productive, and accurate monitoring technologies; and increase the level of expertise in the monitoring communities, the Independent Laboratories Institute (ILI) initiated a mult-ifacted program consisting of workshops, method development/validation studies, and training programs. In addition, a goal of the program is to eliminate the need for EPA and FDA to spend scarce public resources developing validation data that the laboratory and analytical technology innovation communities can provide to Agencies. In this presentation the author will review the results and lessons learned from pilot efforts that have been made to date and outline the program's future directions. These efforts included a series of workshops and a recently completed joint government, laboratory community and technology innovation community method development/validation program addressing Solid Phase Extraction technology.
