Cary Jackson
Dr. Jackson is a nationally and internationally recognized expert with over 35 years’ experience in water sciences and regulatory government affairs. As a principle consultant to the USEPA Office of Water, he has developed, co-developed, and managed the development of over 30 USEPA promulgated test methods for use in regulatory compliance monitoring and reporting purposes.
Currently with Hach Company, Dr. Jackson directs the regulatory affairs activities for EPA and consensus-based method approvals where he is a task chair for ASTM International D19 Water, a US delegate and conveyor to ISO TC147 Water Quality, and is a past Federal Advisor to EPA on Detection and Quantitation.
Most notable achievements of Dr. Jackson includes: the developer of the continuous liquid extractor for semi-volatile analytes in water, co-developer of the automated purge and trap system for the determination of volatile organic compound in water, co-developer of isotopic dilution GCMS methods (EPA Method 1624 and 1625), developer of EPA Method 1664 for the determination of oil and grease, the original method developer for the determination of dissolved oxygen in water using a luminescence-based sensor and most recently, the developer of the simplified method for the determination of Total Kjeldahl Nitrogen (s-TKN) in water.
Dr. Jackson’s education includes a Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry from University of Northern Colorado and a Doctorate of Philosophy Degree in Soil and Water Chemistry from Colorado State University.
