ABSTRACT

Scientific and technological advancement, combined with the groundbreaking work of environmental justice leaders, have driven the modernization of air monitoring that brings us a better understanding of the disproportionate impacts of both emissions and climate change on our most vulnerable communities. New legislation is mobilizing governments to invest in environmental justice through data-driven planning and interventions, with the potential to unlock economic opportunity while improving public health and reducing climate-changing emissions. This luncheon presentation from Davida Herzl, co-founder and CEO of Aclima, a Public Benefit Corporation, will take a closer look at recent and upcoming developments in hyperlocal air pollution and greenhouse gas measurement and analysis, and examine the roles technology and data can play in advancing climate action, environmental and economic justice, and cooperative innovation.
