Juliette Smith

Juliette Smith is currently an Assistant Professor at the Virginia Institute of Marine Science, College of William and Mary. Prior to this appointment, Smith was a postdoc and guest investigator at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution for five years. Her degrees have been awarded by the SUNY-College of Environmental Science and Forestry (PhD), University of New Hampshire (MS), and SUNY-University at Buffalo (BS). Smith was an EPA STAR graduate fellow during her PhD, conducting research on microcystin accumulation and detoxification in the aquatic food web and possible transfer mechanisms to human consumers. Smith conducts research on bioactive compounds produced by algae along the freshwater-estuarine-oceanic gradient.
