ABSTRACT
Laboratories face several common challenges in the migration of legacy data to a new Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS). This presentation will identify the key factors that laboratories should consider to ensure the efficient transition of data from an older LIMS database or system of record. Laboratories should be aware of certain technical considerations pertaining to data formats, have realistic expectations of time management, and ideally have a clear delegation of responsibilities between laboratory personnel and vendor before the project commences. A concise and effective strategy will be outlined to avoid wasting resources and prevent unnecessary delays during the migration process that are encountered frequently by laboratories today.
