ABSTRACT
ASTM D8083 is a new, multi-laboratory validated method for determination of Total Nitrogen by high temperature catalytic combustion with chemiluminescence detection. The method may also be used to calculate TKN simply by subtracting nitrate/nitrite using methods such as ASTM D7781. These two methods combined make determination of TKN greener, faster, and far less dangerous. This presentation covers specifics on how each method is run, how they can be modified for wastewater, and the single lab and inter-laboratory validations.
