Brian Kinsella

Brian Kinsella is an applications chemist at UCT Inc. where he has worked for the past 5 years specializing in environmental and food safety analysis. He received his BS in Chemistry from Dublin City University (Ireland) and a PhD in Analytical Chemistry from Cork Institute of Technology (Ireland) where his postgraduate research focused on the development of new methodologies for the detection of veterinary drug residues in food of animal origin. He has a wide range of experience with different analytical techniques including sample preparation, liquid chromatography, gas chromatography and mass spectrometry. His main area of expertise is in sample preparation, with a particular emphasis on SPE and QuEChERS. He has developed numerous methods for the analysis of pesticides in food and environmental samples, veterinary drugs in food of animal origin, chemical residues in dietary supplements, and drugs of abuse in blood and urine. He is the author or co-author of several scientific papers that have been published in peer reviewed journals, and has presented his work at a variety of international conferences. He was recognized by the AOAC International in 2012-2013 with Expert Review Panel of the Year award for his work on the Veterinary Drugs Panel.
