Harry McCarty
Dr. McCarty is a Senior Scientist in the Water Programs Group at CSRA, in Alexandria, VA. He has a B.S. in Environmental Science from Rutgers and a Ph.D. in Chemical Oceanography from the University of Rhode Island. His laboratory research experience ranges from investigations of the fate and transport of pollutants in the marine environment, through calcification processes in stony corals, to studies of the diagenesis of petroleum.
Since 1986, he has supported the Contract Laboratory Program, the Effluent Guidelines Program, the Office of Ground Water and Drinking Water, the Office of Solid Waste, the Great Lakes National Program Office, and EPA’s homeland security efforts. He has also performed over one hundred laboratory audits supporting these programs and taught the SDWA Laboratory Certification Officer Training Course for two years.
He has designed and managed numerous method development projects, method validation studies, and has written or revised dozens of methods for both the Office of Water and the Office of Solid Waste.
