W. Aaron Shoults-Wilson
Dr. Aaron Shoults-Wilson received his Bachelor's of Science from Truman State University in 2003 and his Ph.D. in Environmental Toxicology from the University of Georgia in 2008. In pursuit of his dissertation, he studied the use of invasive clams as indicators of toxic metal pollution in the blackwater rivers of southern Georgia. Following the completion of his Ph.D., he performed postdoctoral work at the University of Kentucky on the toxicity of metal nanoparticles to soil-dwelling earthworms. Since 2010, he has been employed as an assistant professor of environmental science at Roosevelt University. His research has continued to explore the bioaccumulation of metal by invasive bivalves, this time Lake Michigan, as well as the avoidance behavior of earthworms towards toxic metals. Recently, he has begun a project in partnership with the Illinois Natural History Survey using mussel shells to explore historic metal pollution. In the summer of 2015, he will join the faculty of Illinois Wesleyan University.
