ABSTRACT

It is conventional wisdom that analytical laboratories who are accredited produce data of higher quality as compared to non-accredited labs. As scientists, though, we strive to use data and objective evidence to test any hypothesis. Identifying representative, objective data to evaluate laboratory performance can be a frustrating task but should not limit our examination of this important question. For our analysis, we have applied proficiency testing data to this hypothesis and will discuss if it demonstrates any objective difference between the performance of accredited and non-accredited labs.
