ABSTRACT
In a light hearted and spirited manner, this presentation will reflect upon the progress and progression of the environmental laboratory industry by looking at the programs, organizations, leaders, and community involved to get us to where we are today. The path has been forged by dedication from folks representing all stakeholder groups who continue supporting the journey and captivating new participants along the way. The goal has always been to “protect human health and the environment” through a process that includes fostering "the generation of environmental data of known and documented quality".
It is the responsibility of the current leaders to continue to push progress, find people who are passionate, and support a plan that meets the overall journey's goal. As for the future, the destination will always be unknown because it will be up to the leaders to provide the vision and the followers to help carry out the mission based on what information is at hand. The best we can do is be diligent in advocating for the cause and challenge our next group of leaders to be as dedicated as those who have led us this far!
