ABSTRACT
Environmental testing laboratories must meet their clients needs, get the test results out the door, be efficient and profitable while typically operating with limited resources and within a tight budget. They must also meet the applicable accreditation, regulatory and quality management system requirements. This paper will address how these seemingly contradictory activities at a laboratory actually have a synergistic effect for the betterment of the organization. The author discusses approaches to this ever present challenge he has seen that work well and could be used as best practices by other laboratories.
