ABSTRACT

Unethical practices, error in judgement, and human error can result in inappropriate laboratory practices. Since laboratories greatly rely on the expertise of different individuals performing their tasks, one individuals’ action can result in loss of clientele, research funding, income, and even certifications. In severe cases, these actions can result in incarceration and legal action. Our panel session will start with a 30-minute discussion of ethical practices and examples of inappropriate laboratory practices. Then the team will lead the remainder of the panel session with a variety of industry panelists including representatives from: commercial laboratories, United States Environmental Protection Agency, industry attorneys, and more.
