ABSTRACT
Total nitrogen is a required parameter in many state permits. It is also monitored nationwide and used to determine water quality criteria. However, there is no 40 CFR part 136 parameter or method for total nitrogen. This presentation covers what labs must do now to report total nitrogen, explains why one method for one parameter is better, and offers several new consensus methods that could be used. Comparison data and pros and cons of each will be presented.
