ABSTRACT

This presentation covers the progress of consensus organizations that develop methods used for environmental testing. We will first present examples of methods and focus of analytical testing prior to establishment of the EPA, and then outline progress of two organizations (ASTM and Standard Methods) as each adapted to the demands for new and improved test methods.
