Dr. Yanyan Zhang is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at New Mexico State University. She obtained her PhD degree in Environmental Engineering from University of Missouri in 2012. Before joining NMSU in 2016, she had her postdoctoral training on the treatment of oil sands process-affected water at University of Alberta in Canada. Her current research interests include pathogen detection and inactivation, biofilm and their resistance to disinfection processes, antibiotic resistance in urban and natural environments, Integrated biochemical and physicochemical systems for industrial wastewater treatment and resource recovery.
