Alan Jeffrey

Alan Jeffrey is Senior Geochemist at DPRA/Zymax Forensics in Escondido, California. Dr. Jeffrey has over 20 years of U.S. and international experience in environmental and petroleum geochemistry. Much of his work has focused on the use of geochemical and stable isotope techniques to solve environmental problems, including sources of spilled hydrocarbon fuels and chlorinated solvents, and fugitive methane seeps.

Dr. Jeffrey has published papers on topics ranging from chemical oceanography and petroleum geochemistry to environmental forensics. He has presented technical papers at conferences and symposia in North America, Europe, Southeast Asia, and Australia. He has given numerous workshops on environmental forensic techniques and case studies using these techniques, and reviews technical papers for Environmental Forensics journal. He has provided expert witness services in numerous legal cases, both civil and criminal, involving release and theft of petroleum products, and has defended his opinions in deposition and trial. He has also provided litigation support in environmental contamination cases for numerous private law firms.

Dr. Jeffrey has B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Chemistry from Queen’s University, Canada, and he received his PhD in Oceanography from Texas A&M University.
